Preparation Checklist

Our safe bed bug treatment has many advantages over chemical treatment, but it’s essential to fully prepare your home. Following these instructions before your heat treatment session with RK Thermal Remediation will ensure top-notch results. 

 

Here’s a comprehensive checklist of how to prepare for your thermal remediation appointment.

Remove These From Your Home

  • All aerosol cans (air fresheners, cleaning products, etc)

  • All candles and any heat-sensitive materials (wax-based products- crayons, etc)

  • Electrical equipment (including, but not limited to: TVs, cell phones, cameras, etc)

  • Oxygen tanks or other pressurized objects

  • Musical equipment, including all stringed instruments

  • Oil paintings and other art pieces

  • Any heirlooms and items considered irreplaceable

  • Batteries and flashlights

  • Medicines

  • Flammables

  • Alcohol products

  • Lighters

  • Loose photos

  • Fresh food

  • Plants

  • All pets

Items to Launder
(Hot Wash/ Hot Dryer Cycle or Dry-Cleaned)

  • All sheets, pillowcases, mattress pads, and blankets

  • All clothing, linens, and fabrics

  • Stuffed animals

  • Shoes that can be washed

  • All laundered items should be placed in new plastic bags or plastic containers, sealed tightly and relocated

Vacuum All Infested Rooms

  • Floors

  • Bed Springs 

  • Shoes 

  • Closets and closet shelves

  • Mattresses 

  • Couches and chairs 

  • Rugs 

  • Inside dresser and bedside drawers

  • Use the crack and crevice attachments around baseboards, bed frames, sofas and other furniture

  • Discard vacuum bags and/or contents after use

Other Tasks

  • Remove all miscellaneous items from dressers, nightstands, chests, etc. and place in a new sealed container or plastic bag. None of these items should remain in bedrooms.

  • All luggage recently used should remain empty and be inspected and treated if necessary

  • All large pieces of furniture must be pulled at least 2 feet away from baseboards in every room in home

  • Remove all wall hangings and place in the center of the same room. These must be inspected before removing.

  • A clutter-free environment must be provided in order to allow access to treat all of the needed areas

  • The client SHOULD NOT touch or remove any monitoring devices placed by the technician

  • Booster insecticide treatments MUST NOT be performed by client

Discard All of the Following Items

  • Cardboard boxes and shoe boxes Old newspapers and magazines

  • Paper and plastic bags

  • Any torn or heavily infested items

  • Box spring backing (material that is stapled to the bottom of box spring)

  • NOTE: Before removing all bagged items, client should inspect for pest activity
